This Midwestern ice cream chain is family owned and began in 1962 in Madison, Wisconsin. Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream's very creamy ice cream is still made and packaged in Wisconsin. The north side Chicago location is one of two in the area, the other is located in the near north suburb of Skokie.

Why Preschoolers Will Love Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream

Your preschooler will love choosing from the more than 30 flavors of ice cream available at Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. There are also specialty frozen desserts such as soy cream and no sugar added ice cream. Some flavors are inspired by popular candy bars like Almond Joy and 3 Musketeers. Another intriguing flavor, Blue Moon, is turquoise blue and reported to have a Froot Loops cereal flavor.

Special seasonal flavors include Caramel Apple Pie, Egg Nog, Pumpkin, Smores and Snap-O-Lantern, ice cream blended with spicy pumpkin flavoring and bits of gingersnaps. One especially yummy flavor surprising similar to its namesake is Cotton Candy Twist, sure to be a hit with your ice cream craver.

Fun and colorful monthly themes are carried out in the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream's store decor. During a recent visit, the shop was sporting a circus theme, complete with a giant fake prize wheel that actually turns and clown figures posed in window displays on bicycles.
